LAKE TRAGEDY - Last Tuesday night there
was a fire on a house across the first bridge on 57 on the right.
The house was owned by Wallace Clayton and rented by a young family
with children. Everything was lost. Here is the info from
a reader: “Jason
Griffin is CC Vaughan's step son. On Tuesday night, Jason's
house that they were renting from Wallace Clayton (house at the lake)
caught fire. Jason & his daughter Bailee were at home at the
time, but his wife and youngest daughter were not at home at the time.
Bailee was able to get out of the house unharmed but Jason's
hands were burned pretty badly. He was transferred to the burn
center at UNC Hospital Tuesday night. CC went over this morning
(Wednesday) and saw Jason briefly. He is in a tremendous amount
of pain and has 2nd degree burns on his right hand and 3rd degree
burns on his left hand. It is a blessing that he is right
handed. They may have to do surgery, but are not sure at this
point. This family lost everything in the fire. CC got the
sizes for each of them, and they are as follows: Items
may be dropped off at Hyco Marina and they will get them to the
family. ADVERTISER HIGHLIGHT – Each newsletter,
